We have state of the art simulation centers in both Norman and Tulsa that offer innovative learning opportunities for students.
Social work students provide over 400,000 hours of practicum (internship) hours to a wide range of organizations, agencies, state/local/tribal governments in Oklahoma and beyond.
The school ranks in the top 27% of social work programs in the nation according to the US News and World report of Graduate Rankings

Students with a recent BASW, within the last 7 years from a CSWE approved BSW program, can earn an MSW in just three semesters

Three social work specific international programs in Mexico, Japan, and Israel are offered to students.
The American bison is indigenous to Oklahoma and proudly listed as our official state animal. It is a symbol of who we are; strong, independent, and loyal. An interesting thing about the American bison is how the herd manages the heartland’s rough and tumble weather patterns. When a storm is developing on the horizon the strongest males of the herd will form a line out front, while the strongest females will form a circle around the young, weak, or frail. Then, together, as a collective unit, a team, and a family, they charge into the storm. The bison knows intrinsically how the adversity of the American West cannot be outrun. It must be overcome. The bison has survived because it knows in the core of its being it must face its problems head on. No one is here to do it for them. There is no cover or shelter in the chaos. The bison knows everyone has a very specific role and that success is connected to leaving no one behind.
Oklahoma ranks 49th in the US in healthcare, 48th in education, 1st in childhood trauma, and is ranked as the worst place in the United States for women’s safety, health, and economic wellbeing by multiple metrics. We acknowledge the storm is here. The Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work will not be running, hiding, or shying away from these realities. It is a time to stand, organize, protect, and lead. We have strong people, the support of our community, and a focused mission.
We know the problems and will not shy away. We will grow this enterprise so that we can have a more significant impact on our state. We have great people. We are recruiting more. We have great programs and processes; we are making them stronger. We have the support, we have the momentum, and we have the drive, focus, and plan.

The Social Work with American Indians Certificate represents the collaboration of two strong departments within the university that are dedicated to the education of people regarding the rich history and present status of tribal nations in the United States and Oklahoma.
Social Work and Native American Studies are committed to the utilization of professorial expertise and tribal partnerships to produce culturally relevant OU graduates prepared to work effectively with tribal nations to increase the well-being of American Indian and Alaska Native children, families, and communities.
3 Core Courses = 9 Hours
6 remaining hours - selected from courses within Social Work and Native American studies with prior approval.
Current students wishing to graduate with this certificate must meet with Dr. Lisa Byers to discuss the coursework and process.
For students pursuing a graduate certificate, the Social Work with American Indians Certificate Program Report form is due to the Graduate College no later than the final semester of certificate coursework.

The Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work Program for Continuing Education seeks to provide high quality continuing education events to Oklahoma social workers. We have events on both the Norman and Tulsa campus as well as in Oklahoma City, and Online.
